Welcome to my blog... the home of complete ordered chaos.

Mission Impossible: III
Well, well, well, on to the first Summer blockbuster of the season. Probably the most anticipated movie of the summer (at least for most critics). Mission Impossible: III was definately on the list of big movies to see this year for me and I have to say that I wasn't as impressed with this one as I was MI:II. This movie lacked something that makes all Mission Impossible movies shine. I would definately say that this one was better than the first mission, but has nothing on the second. I don't want to give much of the plot away so I will make this vague but detailed. Tom Cruise, did an excellent job as always in the role of Ethan Hunt, and it was nice to see Ving Rhames back in action, however, I liked his character in the second mission a whole lot better. Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) is also in this film and I am happy to see him back in a decent action film again (it's nice to see some producers not hold a gruge against what Laurence says about America). The villians in this movie are clever and the plot, as always, takes some nice twists at the end.

So... I guess after all that and in honor of Tom, I have to give this movie a Scientology 7 out of 10. :) Yeah, just a 7, maybe even a 6.5 but Scientology 7 is funnier. So if this trend continues (especially if X:3 or DaVinci Code disappoints) then I will have to stop getting my hopes up for any good movies this Summer and wait for Talledga Nights with Will Ferrell and Cars to come out in the Fall.

The Sentinel
My roomate, Ben, Marcus, and I went and saw The Sentinel with 16 other people at AMC. That's right, there were only 19 people in the theatre on opening weekend, Saturday. I was quite surprised by the crowd and the movie. Michael Douglas and Keifer Sutherland did a great job in this movie. Well filmed and good editing. Ebert and Roeper gave this 2 thumbs up but I thought (and so did my brother) the plot was lacking in many places so this gets a 6 out of 10. My brother also thought that this film lacked some realism. Some things were just hard to believe than others and I guess maybe he was looking for a more 24-like film. Bottom line, if you really like Michael Douglas and Keifer (Eva Longoria isn't bad to look at either) go see it. Otherwise its a good film to rent on DVD when it comes out and you have nothing else you really want to see... Personally I can't wait for Superman Returns, MI:III, X3, and The Da Vinci Code. With those movies coming out soon, who has time to watch DVDs.

Lucky Number Slevin
Well... I like movies too much and there will be even more movie postings in May but I guess that is what a blog is for... So Ben, Stacy, Marcus, and myself went and saw Lucky Number Slevin starring Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, and Morgan Freeman on Saturday. With that, I would have to say that this was a witty, intellengent, and well filmed movie. I liked the suspense, and action of this film. Definately not your typical Crime drama. Okay, to the point... I give this a 7.5 out of 10. Well filmed, worth the price of admission, but it had one love scene in it that was just uneccessary.

Inside Man
On Friday my brother and I went and saw Inside Man with Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, and one of my personal favorite new actors Chiwetel Ejiofor who was the villian in Serenity. This is a very clever movie, and the writing is quite good. I can't believe Ebert didn't like this movie (Roeper is my hero), maybe he just doesn't like Spike Lee movies. Anyways, I thought that this movie was well filmed and it kept me engaged all the way to the end, which was also very good. It reminded me a little of a M. Night Shyamalan type of a movie which you find out everything at the end, thinking about the movie well after it is over. I must see this again so I can see it in a whole new light. I give this movie a 8 out of 10. This is a film that both male and female audiences will like (or at least I would think), and I dare say one of Spike Lee's best movies.

V for Vendetta
Yesterday, my twin brother, Marcus, and I went and saw V for Vendetta and I would have to say this is the best film I have seen all year. I was quite surprised at the greatness of this film (they used the 1812 Overture in the Soundtrack). I caught myself several times saying to my brother, that I have to get this film when it comes out on DVD. Being that this was a little bit different movie I really like the originality of the film in comparison to other action sci-fis. I give this film an 8 out of 10. The Wachowski Brothers did an excellent job in filming this and really made it great for viewers to watch. The acting was superb and I loved Evey (Padme in Star Wars) in this film (marry me Natalie). My brother said he liked Ultravoilet better, which I haven't seen, but after hearing the reviews of that and watching this film I don't see it. Or maybe it has just been a long time coming since I have seen a good film and overinflate my take on V. Either way... not a disappointment; go see it if you love Sci-Fi action.

Glory Road
On Sunday, I went and saw Glory Road with my roomate Ben, and I have to say that it was a decent film. It reminded me a lot of Remember the Titans, another Disney Pictures Production, but this one wasn't as great. I have to say that much of this film was tring to be comical at times that it didn't need be. I also think that a lot of these 'Based on a true story' films are adding to much to the true story. It becomes over sensationalized in a way.

I wish they could have stuck more to the real story of Texas Western University, I have done a little research and it tells a contrasting story on some of the more major plot points. I give this one a 6.5 out of 10: The writer and director of this film are unknown and did an excellent job of making a complete movie that made sense. They also gave me a real sense for what it was like to live in the 1960s. Overall, this is your typical Disney 'deep meaning' film. If you liked Remember the Titans, you will like Glory Road.

"Cheap"er by the Dozen 2
I went and saw Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (CBTD2) with a friend of mine (and one of her friends) about a week ago and I am just getting around to blogging about this. Anyway, CBTD2 is what my heading says... Cheap. I didn't find this movie that good (sorry Steph). I have not seen CBTD but if this movie has any indictation of the first movie was, then wait to watch this one on DVD. The only thing saving this movie for me is Carmen Electra. Which in some way she gives a good performance in this film. She actually made the film better... surprise, surprise. IMDB gives this movie a 4.2 but I am giving this movie a 3 out of 10. Ridiculous plot, not that funny, heavily predictable at times, and Carmen Electra is the only real talent in this movie (which is crazy to think cause Steve Martin is a good actor).

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Yep... went and saw The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe yesterday with my good friend Greer, her brother, Jed, and thier friend Cullen. It was a great movie and it brought back so many childhood memories from reading this in the 1st or 2nd grade. Okay now to the detials: the special effects and computer graphics on this film are truly stunnning. I can not believe how high the bar was raised with this film. At no point did I think Aslan was just a CG animated character, and some of the battle scences in this movie were just unbelievable. ILM of course did this film and I was really excited to see how much progress has been made outside of Star Wars. I really hope the producers of this film concider making the whole series because I see this series as being the next Lord of the Rings. I give this movie a 9 out of 10. The SE, the casting, the flow, and the plot (it follows the book very well) were all top notch. Some of the music could have been better, but hey, you can't get John Williams to do every film :)

Pride and Prejudice
I went and saw Pride and Prejudice with Greer and Becca this weekend, and I would have to say that I actually enjoyed the film. It wasn't too long (there are several versions of this movie, one being 5hrs in length) and there was actually a really good plot behind it. I guess when you base a movie off of a best selling novel that has stood the test of time, then you have a good film. If you do a good job of it. I would have to give this movie a 7.5 out of 10. This is the first movie I have given a half-point too, but it is not an 8 movie or a 7 movie, 7.5 is just right. I am not a fan of chick flicks, but this one isn't your typical romanatic film. Or maybe I am just getting older and my resistance is failing me :)

Two For the Money
Well back on the movies clip agian... Ahhhhhh I need a life :) Went and saw Two for the Money with Al Pacino and Matthew McCona... (whatever) and I have to say it was a decent film. I didn't like the purpose of the movie myself but hey when your roomate wants to go see the movie, you go and see it (Ben has gone to films he didn't like/want to go to). If you are an Al Pacino fan, this is a better film for you... I am not a fan of all of his work and this film was one I could watch on DVD if offered so I guess it ain't all bad. And for all you ladies out there, if you think Matthew McCon[you know] is hot, well you won't be dissapointed. This movie gets a strong 6 out of 10. It would have been seven, but to many F bombs and a sex scene that is just not needed in this film.
