Google on your phone
Haven't posted a relevant tip in a while so I will do the Google Mobile search capabilities. They are cool. Basically, you send google a text message and you recieve great info back. Like today I wanted the weather so I typed 'weather omaha ne' and sent it to GOOGL (46645) and within seconds I got the weather. Wind: 28mph NW, Humidity: 72%, Hi/Lo: 34-57 deg, Showers. It even gave me a 3-day outlook (Sat, Sun, and Mon). You can also get driving directions, movie times, stock quotes, product prices, and even dictionary definitions. Wow, so many uses, so little time.

Touch command trick
Hey, found this really eat trick you can do with touch, a Linux command that allows you to make zero byte file and update modified dates on files. Did you know that you can actually date back files with touch? Niether did I until this morning. This is great because if I mess with a file on my blog and need to date it back, I can. :)

DOSBOX!!
I was on Slashdot today and someone posted a link to DOSBOX, a DOS emulation client that works in Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, BeOS, and FreeBSD. Happy days are here again. I MUST try this download.

WindizUpdate
Wow... there is this great site I found today by listing to the TWiT (This week in Tech) podcast. It's called WindizUpdate and it is Windows Update for Mozilla FireFox. It seemed like this is an impossible thing to me as Microsoft is in control of the updates and I thought you could only get updates only via Windows Update. The other thing is for all of those people with Windows 95/98/2000 the updates for those versions are also out there as well. This is a good thing for me because I refuse to upgrade to XP on my home system; Window 2000 SP4 is a lot more reliable, stable, and fixable than XP SP2.

Search your desktop from Firefox
One of my good friends, Marc, sent me an email on this great Firefox extension called Horopter. Basically, it makes it so you can search the Google Desktop (which must be installed of course) using the Google search bar. Yeah... not that exciting for some but hey I love it.

Plugins for Mozilla
I got the new version of Firefox today and I am so excited about all the plug-ins. They have this really cool plug-in for Website development. It is really cool you can turn off CSS, have it open your favorite editor and edit HTML source. It has a HTML parser, and just everything you can think of to develop a website. Best thing about is it's free :) Check out the Mozilla extensions website here to find the plug-in.

Mozilla Middle click Tricks
My co-worker Joe told me about this neat feature on Mozilla. If you
middle click a link on a page, when properly configured, the link you
clicked appears in a new tab. Also when you middle click a tab in the
center it automatically closes that tab.

Firefox Config page
Found this cool thing in Firefox today, the about:config page. It allows you to view tons of global browser variables and what they are set to. It will also allow you to edit, add, or delete vars as needed.

AdBlocking
You can block ads with Mozilla!! I can't believe it. With the new Adblock plug-in extention for mozilla becomes very easy. Just download the Adblock extention, then when you get to a site with ads in it find out where the ad comes from and click the adblock link in the status bar. Select the ad out of the list and bang. No more ad... Isn't that just great? :)
