Let's Go Braves
I am so stoked for this year. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that this is the year that the Braves return to dominance in the National League East. Yeah... last year was quite a disappointment for the Braves. Plagued with injuries we didn't even make the playoffs, but at least an NL East team won the World Series. That being said, we did beat that team, the Phillies in their home opener. Safe to say that's a good start for the Braves this year, but baseball is a marathon not a sprint so I can't wait to see this season played out. Let the games begin.

Bacolicious!!
I've been baconed! Check out this... It's a site that puts a big slice of bacon on any website. It looks like it doesn't work as well on sites that have Flash.

Taken
Hello... is this thing on? Well... I feel bad because I haven't used this thing in a long time. Anyways, I can't let that get me down. I am here to tell you about Taken with on of my favorite actors Liam Neeson A.K.A. Qui-Gon Ginn from Star Wars: Episode I. All I can say is that this is nothing like Star Wars, and I loved it. Usually when Star Wars actors are in movies, I have a hard time not imagining them as that character... except for Harrison Ford and Samuel L. Jackson of course (and maybe Ray Park and Anthony Daniels), but I digress.

Alright, on to the review now... this movie is an edge of your seat, unbelievable thrill-ride. I was very surprised at the level of action in this movie. Taken definitely did not disappoint and I found myself at many times in awe of what was going on. This movie reminded me of a Jason Bourne type movie, but even a notch higher. This movie was only 99 minutes long but it seemed even longer than that. I loved the action and level of acting in this movie. The sets in this film are stunning and the plot, for the most part, is simple and believable. I have to give this one an 8 out of 10. The best action movie of the year, :) okay there aren't that many yet, but I will definitely get this one on DVD.

Ironman
Elicia and I went to Ironman yesterday. I have to say, what I don't understand why Marvel comics based movies are so much better than DC comics (except for Batman). Superman Returns just wasn't like the entertaining and quite humorous Jon Stark. Ironman has everything you would want in a superhero movie, a good alter "ego", a villain with no mercy, and action sequences that just blow you away. Plus, ILM did all the SFX and CG work. You can't ask for anything better than that. Except for maybe Clone Wars which comes out August 15th!!!!

Bottom Line: Ironman is a good time, definitely worth the money. Oh oh.. and make sure you stay for the scene after the credits, you will not be disappointed. I give this a 7.5 out of 10. Good plot, good performances, and the sequel for this film will not be even better than this.

Universal Day of the Jedi

I just found out about the UDOTJ and I am gearing up. May 25th will be the 31 year anniversary of the Star Wars saga and that's a big accomplishment. According to the Day of the Jedi site and many others the fun will not end any time soon. More merchandise, movies and games are to come. I am excited to see the Clone Wars movie coming to theaters this year, but only after Indiana Jones makes his illustrious return. So hang on tight... this is a big year for Lucas and the gang. I can't wait.

Vantage Point and 88 Minutes
This week Elicia and I went and saw Vantage Point and 88 Minutes. Both films were full of action and suspense. Nothing like a good action film (or two). So lets put them up against each other.

Acting: The edge definitely goes to Vantage Point. Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox and Forrest Whitaker... nuff said. Action Sequences: Vantage Point had really good chase scenes and explosions, the President of the United states getting shot, just all kinds of chaos. 88 Minutes really only followed Pacino and there were some dull moments. So Vantage Point gets that one. But suspense definitely goes to 88 Minutes... but barely. Pacino and the gang did an excellent job making all the suspense really believable and edge of your seat. Okay... Originality: Vantage Point no doubt had a great way of portraying this film. But both films left you wondering until the climax of the film when you find everything out. So all in all I prolly give the edge to Vantage Point only cause the way it was filmed and the Action sequences were definitely on kill. Nothing make an action film like the action.

I give Vantage an 8 out of 10 and 88 Minutes a 7. Both good films to go see on a Friday night if you just dying to see a good action film.

Atlanta Braves to Win it all
BRAVES #1
Well.... it's really interesting to me that in many of the sports sites out there (ESPN, FOX Sports) actually have my Braves winning it all this year. This surprises me because I have never really seen sports analysts give the Braves the respect due. They are one of the most consistent contenders every year for the last 16 years. Their pitching staff has had its trials but always has been good. So I don't see how this year is any different than any other year. Why didn't they say the Braves could take the title 2 years ago? Granted this year we will have one of the best pitching staffs in the NL and with Chipper Jones, Mark Teixeira, Brian McCann, and Jeff Francoeur in the lineup it will be one exciting year.

But baseball is a marathon, so I don't expect much more than Atlanta to show the consistency they always have had. Good pitching, decent hitting, and always a chance to come back and win a game or two. Hopefully Interleague play will not be our downfall this year. If it wasn't for that, we could have won our 16th Division title in a row. Oh well... GO BRAVES!!

Ken and Elicia
htenneKEliciaRoss
Well... i am getting married for all those who didn't know. Our wedding day is May 16th, 2009 and that should be a great day. I know God has truly blessed me in my life and I would have never expected to have such a amazing woman in my life.

Well... let's see besides that, I have been really busy and haven't had time to blog that much. I am on Facebook now. Uhm... I have seen a couple of movies (The Game Plan and Cloverfield). I feel bad it's taken this long to blog about anything. So much time wasted... I am going to resurrect this thing for sure.

National Treasure: Book of Secrets
Merry Christmas to all, and to all go see National Treasure: Book of Secrets. I don't have much to say about this movie. It is a good Disney film and if you liked the last one, you will like this one. Consider it a Christmas present to me and see this good film. I give this a 7 out of 10... I am not much of a Nick Cage fan, but eh... this is his kind of movie.

I Am Legend
Ahh... my good old blog... what happened to me this last month or so... I guess I have been really busy. Okay, enough talk, down to business. I Am Legend starring Will Smith is GOOD. I mean really really good. This is one of the best movies I have seen this year. I am a fan of all types of movies and I have to say that this is the first Suspense/Horror film that I have lived up to its billing. It's been a long time coming. From Blair Witch to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre... None of them have stacked up. Open Water was the last Horror film that made me cringe... but that movie is more like a documentary. There aren't zombies or mummies or some stupid guy in a ski mask.

Okay... back to I Am Legend. Why did this film keep me in suspense? I really don't know... maybe it's Will, maybe cause it has more of a Sci-Fi feel to the movie. Or maybe its because there is a SWEET Mustang at the beginning of this film. Okay, maybe not that... but it helps :) I guess overall this movie had a more realistic feel to it. A lot of the action was shot with free cameras not tied to a tripod, which added to the realism. I also just had the feeling that, it could have been me all alone in New York. I don't know... it just struck a cord with me (maybe cause Will is black too... lol). I give this movie a 9 out of 10. I'm making up for lost time on this one. Will did an excellent job selling this one and if you like suspense, add this one to the collection of good, kitty litter free, movies.
